SiGMA Nordamerika 2026: Branchengrößen drängen nach Mexiko-Stadt

The SiGMA North America 2026 conference in Mexico City is set to become a hub for the iGaming industry in North and Latin America. It expects 4,000 delegates, 1,000 operators, and over 150 speakers.

Preparations for the SiGMA North America 2026 conference are gaining momentum. Numerous industry leaders are stepping up as ambassadors to promote the first event of its kind in Mexico City. The three-day summit promises to be a central platform for the iGaming industry in North and Latin America, with an impressive number of participants and speakers. The event underscores the growing importance of the Latin American market for global online gambling.

The focus is particularly on leading figures from companies across various segments of the industry. They will not only be present but will actively contribute to shaping the conference content. This demonstrates a high level of commitment and confidence in the region's potential.

Numbers and facts

SiGMA North America will take place from September 01 to 03, 2026, at the Centro Banamex in Mexico City. Organizers expect 4,000 delegates. Among them are 1,000 operators, more than 150 speakers, and over 200 exhibitors and sponsors. Notably, over 40 percent of the audience is expected to be C-suite executives. The conference features a comprehensive two-day program that deeply explores the North and Latin American markets.

Among the ten confirmed ambassadors are prominent figures such as Javier Troncoso, co-founder and CEO of InsightPlay.ai. David Fica, co-founder of Land Vegas Group, is also participating. Stephen Crystal, founder and CEO of SCCG Management, brings over 30 years of industry experience, including transactions exceeding $2 billion. Iliana María Pineda Echeverri, Chief Legal & Compliance Officer at Wplay in Colombia, and Rosa Ochoa, founder of Blue Global Gaming, are also key voices.

Several of these ambassadors are already part of the conference agenda. Javier Troncoso will speak on “Predictive Play: The Future of AI Personalization.” David Fica will discuss “The Machine Import Bottleneck: What’s Slowing Land-Based Gaming in Mexico?” Rosa Ochoa and Iliana María Pineda Echeverri will address crisis management in the region in “48 Hours to Fallout: how iGaming crises unfold in Mexico & LATAM.” Stephen Crystal will participate in a discussion on North American regulation, while Fellipe Fraga will deliver a keynote on Latin America’s “Mobile Populace.”

Background

The SiGMA North America 2026 is part of a broader strategy. Five months prior, BiS SiGMA South America 2026 already took place in São Paulo. This allows the industry to utilize two important regional meeting points in the same year. Brazil remains the central South American forum, while Mexico serves as a North American base for Spanish-speaking markets, cross-border expansion, and companies operating across Latin America, the United States, and Canada.

Frederik Niehusen, Chief Commercial Officer at Booming Games, emphasized the importance of such events: > "Our showcase at SiGMA Americas was a phenomenal opportunity to connect with industry leaders and showcase our latest innovations." - Frederik Niehusen, Chief Commercial Officer at Booming Games

He highlighted that Booming Games prioritizes the development of games tailored to Latin American customers. This underscores the growing relevance of localized content and experiences in the region. Following the main conference, the SiGMA Group will host an Affiliate Retreat in Cancún from September 04 to 06. This will be followed by iStack's Affiliate World Americas in Cancún from September 07 to 08.

Why it matters for German players

For German players, these developments in Latin America have no direct impact on domestic regulation or the playing experience. The focus of the SiGMA conference is on the markets of North and Latin America, whose regulatory frameworks differ significantly from those in Germany. In Germany, the State Treaty on Gambling (GlüStV 2021) has been in effect since July 2021. This treaty introduced strict rules for online gambling, including a stake limit of 1 euro per spin on online slot machines and a monthly deposit limit of 1,000 euros, controlled by the central monitoring system LUGAS.

German players should continue to ensure that they only play at online casinos that hold a valid German license from the Joint Gambling Authority of the Federal States (GGL). Only these providers guarantee full player protection and compliance with German laws. Offers from other jurisdictions such as Malta (MGA) or Curaçao are illegal in Germany and offer no legal certainty for German players. The news from Mexico merely illustrates how differently global gambling markets are regulated and where growth opportunities are seen in certain regions.

What it means for GGL-licensed casinos

For online casinos with a German GGL license, developments in Latin America are a side note. Their business model and operational processes are fully tailored to German requirements. The GlüStV 2021 stipulates that providers must work closely with the GGL and comply with all regulations regarding player identification, deposit and stake limits, and advertising restrictions. The LUGAS system ensures that players cannot bypass their limits across different providers.

While innovations from Mexico or other Latin American markets might offer inspiration for game development in the long run, they have no short-to-medium-term impact on the strictly regulated German landscape. For GGL-licensed casinos, consistent compliance with national regulations remains the top priority to maintain their license and ensure player protection. German rules are designed to create a safe and responsible gambling environment, which differs significantly from the emerging and often more liberal markets in Latin America.
